The 14th Sustainability Learning Conference

On Tuesday 27 June 2023, the Lancashire Schools Sustainability Forum, in close association with Sustainability Learning CIC, delivered the 14th schools' conference at Blackburn Rovers Football Club at Ewood Park, Blackburn.

The 2023 conference focused on promoting the pupil voice. It was held with support from Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, and the Forum acted as a platform for sharing skills, knowledge and experience in education for sustainable development.

Forty-one primary schools were represented, and around 300 children watched a climate change drama performance and had access to all 34 marketplace learning activities. In all, 180 high school students from 13 schools took part in team challenges, workshops and presentations, and 48 high school students acted as guides for the primary groups.

Schools travelled from across Lancashire and beyond, from Skipton to Wigan. Students from Pleckgate Academy, Skipton Girls' Grammar School and St Christopher's CE High School's Eco-Group ran displays of their own projects in the marketplace.

There were separate curriculum and leadership CPD sessions for school staff. Extra places were offered so that senior leaders and governors could attend the leadership session, which was well attended.

The conference was run as a not-for-profit event and depended on sponsorship, with input from Forum members, St Christopher's Eco-Group students and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust. The Forum thanks everyone who supported it. For news of future conferences, visit the Sustainability Learning CIC website: https://sustainabilitylearning.co.uk
